Headliner on the evening was British born, Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell as part of her UK, Ireland and European Tour, fondly known as the #WahhaSummerTour. Lisa Mitchell took to the stage in a bespoke embellished Urban/Street style, looking great and accompanied by talented touring musician Tim Harvey.
We were treated to an array of musical styles throughout. From longing lyrics to more R&B/Urban/Dance she had it covered, from switching guitars, playing the keys and even including an ‘old style’ tape player into the set there was a lot to think about.
Lisa Mitchell performed her classics like ‘Land Beyond The Front Door‘, ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and ‘Coin Laundry‘.‘Love Letter’ in particular sounded sublime and emotive. Also pleasurable were the instantly recognisable and massively popular ‘Pirouette’ right through to ‘Wah ha’. ‘I Remember Love’ was stunning and one of the standout songs of the evening for me.
So did Lisa Mitchell pull it off? Hell yes and I commend her for pushing the boundaries, experimenting and developing her craft. I enjoyed the occasional ‘Chilled Ibiza Breeze’ and look forward to her next release, particularly to hear some of those songs that aren’t available online yet. Since Edinburgh Lisa has been bopping across Europe enjoying sell-out shows in Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Paris and Dublin, some intimate radio sessions are available to watch from her website link below.
